Seeing spots can be good for you!

I am a big fan of leopard print if done in the right application. But for what ever reason, the first image that comes to mind when thinking of this print...is of an 80's Glam Rock band running around the stage in leopard print tights with crazy hair. Not a pretty picture then and now, but when done right this print can really make a room...

Okay, what do we think...

Q: Leopard prints (faux)...good or bad ?!?! Let me know, I'm interested...

Bad! But, I'm very slow to warm up to animal prints. I just hate the dead animal connotations, even when it's just a print on cotton. However, I have been warming up to zebra prints, especially in non-zebra colours (those chairs on Elle Decor!), so maybe I'll turn into a full-on cougar yet ;)

I love an accent of leopard print, like in the photos you have posted. It hints at the exotic.

Thanks for the comment Jane, yes...I agree with you, I've been loving the non trad zebra prints in red and yellow esp.

I love that last photo (it's in my book of inspirations!) because the leopard print is subtle yet unexpected. I think it can be done well to add a bit of punch to a room, but wall to wall carpeting? No thank you!!

My middle daughter was about 3 when we were in a beautiful store that had a gorgeous leopard print throw for sale with a gorgeous price tag. She wouldn't stop talking about it, so... I went to a great fabric store and bought really nice soft leopard fabric and some cording in black and made her one. She is now a senior in H.S. and still loves that leopard throw. Definitely a print that's a keeper. :) Nice post Kate.

If they're done tastefully it is very chic and timeless, otherwise it can just look tacky and kitsch.

I agree C + K, although in the photo wall to wall leopard print carpeting looks fab...I don't know if I could live with it day in and day out, maybe at my vacation home :) Thanks for the comment!

oh thank goodness I'm not alone. LOL! I try to keep my love of zebra stripes (done well) and subtle leopard print to myself. But I just can't help but be drawn to their graphic pattern.

Nice to know I'm not alone ;)
