Step it up!

So I'm back at it again with faux animal prints, please don't hate me. It may just be my latest obsession, but who knows cause I'm obsessed about a lot of things. See, if you didn't know me, you'd think I meant the over the top animal print..one you might find at some obscure/ "out of the movies" type home. But, thankfully you know I'm not like that!

I thought I would share some of my latest inspiration, of where stairs meet their counter part: faux animal print runners...and together they make a perfect team.

Sometimes a space needs that added bit of exotic and these runners certainly do the trick, don't you think?

But, these prints even look great as broadloom too! Jan Shower's design (above) makes a statement with this Stark Carpet leopard print. Stark is where it's at when it comes to rugs and carpet, including their animal print line, do check them out!

These are all great options. The Showers room especially appeals to me. I think you will love the leopard tablecloth in Bazaar's Duquette spread!

I am loving all these animal prints, especially the stair runners.

I LOVE LOVE the exotic staircase. Does it go to a petit cabinet de curiosités where you can find old rints , maps ...and taxidermy

I love the look of animal print on a stair runner, which is interesting because I do not have a speck of animal print anywhere in my house (well, I do have a leopard print belt).

A few years ago, I went to a party at someone's house, and they had an animal print stair runner. It was absolutely beautiful. Great post!

OMG! - the top image just about made me weep. In a way, it's a good thing I don't have a staircase or I'd be spending a small fortune replicating this look...

I am so loving the runners...I need a new runner for my stairs & this is perfect! A few years ago Karastan, I think, had great animal prints...hope they still do...they were affordable. Thanks for the inspiration!

Please keep on! I have yet to grow tired of a little animal print. And using it as a runner seems like a nice minimal way to get your fix without over doing it.

This reminds me of a photograph of one a Billy Baldwin-decorated stairhall from the 1930s. The house had a zebra print carpet, but the rest of the (very grand)hall was very spare, very subdued.

I forgot this, but there was another stairhall that Bilhuber did with straw mats that had been stencilled with faux (oversized)leopard prints. Amazingly chic.

It's a great idea, using animal prints for stair runners--really spices things up and makes everything a little more adventurous.
