A classic pattern...

(Simple Things Blog)

I love the idea of checkerboard...a classic pattern that is great in black and white or the like! When I imagine any traditional home, I often picture the use of a checkboard pattern some where in the mix...but I've been seeing this pattern lately with a different twist...like the mixed wood above or even painting the pattern on your floor. What do you think? Still a classic?

I like the mixture of different tones of woods to create a checkerboard pattern. I am not sure about painting the wood though. In addition to floors, I have also recently seen some cute checkerboard backsplashes.

I love painted floors. The best thing about it, is that unlike marble patterns, they can be changed up without too much trouble.

I am not a big fan of the black and white checkerboard pattern, but the painted floors with the yellows and greens....I love!

Ditto...thanks for the shout out! I'm honored. LOL.

Just my opinion on the checkerboard floors...I love the pattern itself, but the black and white checkered isn't my style. I love how it looks painted on the wood floor because it's more natural while still being a bold pattern. It's amazing how it looks with the colored cabinets...

I just had to add this post of yours to my "link love" post today! Hope you don't mind, but I found it very inspiring.
