Mirror, Mirror...

(Designed by Brian McCarthy/Elle Decor, Dec. '07)

Scale, proportion, placement...all of these are key when fitting the right mirror in place. Seems fairly easy to do, but takes some skill to really transform a room...

(Designed by Alex Papachristidis/Elle Decor, Nov. '06)

In this instance a pair of tilted mirrors is just right for this bedroom...

(Designed by Mike Clifford/Elle Decor, Nov. '05)

Furniture in front of a mirror, like this settee here works great, but casegood pieces work as well...

(Home of Dana Slatkin/California Style Mag, Jan/Feb. '08)

Mirror over mirror, love this idea! Makes that full/tight typical bathroom mirror more special...

(Designed by Windsor Smith/Domino Mag., Aug. '07)

Another favorite, this mirror is bound to double the size of the room...

These are some tear sheets I've been collecting of room designs that emphasize the right mirror(s)...just wanted to share with you...

Love that first room and that bathroom too. Not only can a mirror make a room bigger but it also brings life to a room. I love this post

In my opinion, a mirror is like magic, and so is this wonderful post.

I have always been a fan of mirrors to make a small space feel more important.

Kate, I absolutely LOVE mirrors. You have such a gorgeous collection here. I wonder where all those HUGE mirrors are available.

Kate - you don't find those tilted bedroom mirrors a bit, well, tastefully kinky? I wouldn't be able to let my dad come upstairs. Yikes. The mirror on mirror - itching to do that here - it's a great image, hadn't seen it -thanks.

I know I was thinking the same this ALkemie, but most likely custom is my guess.

I love the pic with the tilted mirrors hanging over the bed (although it's not very feng shui... but who cares!!!)

I love the idea of those huge mirrors over that plush bed, like a waking up in a really nice french hotel, but my O would never let me put something so heavy above the bed, he says it will fall and kill us in the night, I say, but it looks so pretty, and we can use a real big nail, but I still don't have anything above the bed, not even a curtain rod for the windows.

Did you enjoy Martha Stewart's feature on mirrored rooms? It's worth checking out if you can snag an issue. I thought I had seen it all.

This is just too gorgeous. I love Alex P's tilting mirrors, which is a great way to reflect something besides the ceiling. And the bathroom with the double mirror. divine!

I could be wrong or merely cranky, but haven't we seen enough overscale mirrors propped against walls?
