world's smallest hotel room

Um...okay...I don't know where to begin. If you like sleeping in a coffin or getting CAT scans, then this is the place for you. I don't know if you could call this a hotel room...a hotel capsule would be better :) I think I've seen jail cells more inviting than this place...despite the aesthetic though, at least it looks clean! And you get a TV, so this will help ease your pain...but, it makes me wonder how many people book one of these and then freak out and just can't sleep there. Although, I've never been to Tokyo, I've heard it's not a cheap place to live, or visit for that matter, so I guess this is their answer to affordable room and board :)

But...are we seeing into the future here? Could this make it's way to the US in another 10 yrs...they did bring us Sony, Canon, Toyota to name a few...and now the smallest hotel room, thank you Japan :)

What a great idea. It looks clean and comfortable as long as you are not claustropbic. I think this would be a great concept for the airlines to incorporate on overseas flights.

Ive seen pictures of this before, but the video was great, it really gives you a feel for it. Not bad for a place to sleep I guess, but you sure can't hang out there with the alarms and things. Tokyo is a very different place! Thanks, this was great.

That was really awful, gives me the creeps! I love the rest of your blog though.

I think you are absolutely right Patricia...airlines could rent these out for an additional cost for coach passangers that really want to layout and actually try and sleep on a flight. Good idea, huh!

Hi!

I don't think that these hotels will become popular somewhere else. In Tokyo is not that much space - space is luxury and expensive. Even flats are small. This kind of hotel is used by travelling business man.

I remember to have seen a film about these kind of beds in a overland travelling bus. I think it was in the States.

I don't know- I think I might have a panic attack if I stayed in one of these.

I'm with you on that one Jennifer...there aren't enough sedatives in this world to keep me calm enough to stay in one of those :)
