The right stripe...

can be hard to find...but today I'm finding them. I think it can be fairly easy to go wrong with stripes...either in the pattern scale or simply the application. But, here are some examples of where the stripes are just so right!

(Designed by Brian McCarthy, featured in Elle Decor, Dec. '07)

(Designed by Maria Noel, featured in Domino, June '06)
(Designed by Mr. Paul Siskin, featured in Interior Design mag)

This is what I've found so far, I hope to add more later today. Enjoy!!! What do you think of my findings so far?

I love stripes - and I love the chair in the second picture. A very simple and cheap way of using quite subtle stripes of course is old-fashioned ticking, which can go pretty much anywhere, can't it?

I especially love the black and white bathroom walls - really crisp and clean. And, in photo #1, HOW MUCH do I LOVE those curtains!?!

All great Kate! I especially love how Noel perked up those antique chairs with a bolder than expected stripe :)

Oh I'm crazy for the bathroom. Isn't it amazing how the width alone can take the look from traditional to contemporary?

These are all great, especially the Jeffrey Bilhuber room, and I'm in total agreement about the curtains!

Dear Kate , thanks for dropping by today :-)
That first one in cream & chocolate is yum - and unexpected, they've obviously put thought into upholstering that chair :-)

I absolutely love the power the 'right' stripe. Stripes are powerful and can add so much to a room or a piece of furniture. It's so much fun to use chic (or bold) vertical striped in unexpected spaces.

And just look at those antique chairs tricked out!
